Software Development Engineer IV

The Software Development Engineer IV is integral to the team as he/she will not only develop systems but also provide leadership to the team. The successful candidate will design, develop, and install software solutions as well as provide insight to making improvements within the team.

As a Software Development Engineer you would:

  • Lead a team through full software life-cycle development
  • Investigate and provide solutions to solve complex problems
  • Master an understanding our development processes and culture, then identify and lead efforts to improve them
  • Advocate for and foster the health of our codebase
  • Improve operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedure
  • Lead demonstrations and trainings on relevant technology or systems to department or company as needed 
  • Research, recommend, and implement new tools/software to improve efficiency/usability
  • Provide technical leadership on a per project basis
  • Serve as an escalation point for peers 
  • Write well designed, testable, efficient code
  • Mentor others on skills at which you excel
  • Develop new software solutions and maintain existing applications
  • Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and objectives
  • Create, review, and update technical documentation
  • Keep apprised of relevant new technology and best practices
  • Write tests to validate code function
  • Execute bug fixes
  • Measure results of implemented solutions

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven leadership skills
  • Strong working knowledge of current programming best practices 
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in developing and troubleshooting complex software systems that run in mixed-environments including Linux, Unix and/or Windows 
  • Experience with system analysis
  • Experience finding and fixing software bugs in existing code
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills
  • Proficiency with database design
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • A passion for improving software/systems
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline or equivalent experience
