Data Center Technician

The Data Center Technician role is an entry level position that encompasses all aspects of the data center. The primary responsibility of this role is to fulfill all requests for new hardware and maintaining that hardware throughout it’s useful life-cycle. In addition to processing new server requests, this position will involve the testing, organizing, and auditing of data center inventory, monitoring the data center environment, and project work involving server deployment.

As a Data Center Technician you would:

  • Pack, unpack, and test data center hardware
  • Process new server requests and cancellations
  • RMA bad hardware
  • Validate testing activities and results
  • Perform a variety of maintenance tasks on servers and data center hardware
  • Audit server inventory
  • Kick servers to customer specifications
  • Clean, organize and inspect the data centers 
  • Ask customers to participate in diagnostic procedures, by using diagnostic software, kb articles and/or by listening to and following instructions to help ensure we are able to relate to and fully understand the customer's issue
  • Demonstrate the ability to diagnose customer application issues and provide quick and accurate solutions within a collaborative environment
  • Provide fellow team members and support representatives with technical support and guidance to help them more effectively complete tasks
  • Monitor and react to alerts from various reporting software
  • Facilitate inter-shift communication by maintaining accurate and detailed logs and shift notes; include steps taken to meet client requests and fulfill other internal tasks

You Have:

  • 1+ years IT industry experience
  • Working knowledge of RPM based Linux Distributions
  • Basic knowledge of Networking
  • Solid understanding of server hardware
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, team environment
  • Refined customer service and problem solving skills
  • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks while maintaining strict adherence to customer expectations and company policy
